Bakuchiol: The natural alternative to Retinol that your skin will love

helenblissbeauty

If you love the idea of retinol but find it too harsh for your skin, you’re not alone. Many people struggle with the irritation, dryness, and sensitivity that can come with traditional retinoids. Thankfully, there’s a gentler alternative that offers similar skin-renewing benefits without the downsides—Bakuchiol.

We are delighted to introduce the new Katherine Daniels Bakuchiol Cream, a luxurious formula that harnesses the power of this plant-based ingredient to deliver all the anti-aging benefits you love—without irritation.

What Is Bakuchiol?

Bakuchiol (pronounced buh-KOO-chee-ol) is a plant-derived ingredient extracted from the seeds of the Psoralea corylifolia plant, also known as Babchi. It has been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for centuries, but in recent years, it has gained popularity in skincare as a natural alternative to retinol.

Why Choose Bakuchiol Over Retinol?

1. Gentle Yet Effective

Retinol is famous for boosting cell turnover and collagen production, but it often comes with side effects like redness, peeling, and increased sun sensitivity. Bakuchiol, on the other hand, provides similar skin-renewing benefits without causing irritation. This makes it perfect for sensitive skin or those who struggle with retinol intolerance.

2. Hydrating and Non-Drying

One common complaint about retinol is that it can dry out the skin, leading to flakiness and discomfort. The Katherine Daniels Bakuchiol Cream is enriched with hydrating and soothing ingredients to keep your skin feeling soft and comfortable.

3. Safe for Daytime Use

Unlike retinol, which can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, Bakuchiol does not increase photosensitivity. This means you can safely use it morning and night without worrying about extra sun damage—though SPF is always a must! The Daily DNA Defence SPF30 is our absolute favourite!

4. Suitable for All Skin Types

Whether you have sensitive, dry, acne-prone, or mature skin, Bakuchiol is a versatile ingredient that works for almost everyone. It helps to reduce fine lines, improve elasticity, and even out skin tone, much like retinol, but without the risk of irritation.

5. Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Safe

Retinoids are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential risks, but Bakuchiol is a safe alternative. This makes it a fantastic option for those looking to maintain their skincare routine during this time.

The new Katherine Daniels Bakuchiol Cream is formulated to deliver powerful anti-aging benefits in a nourishing, skin-friendly way and is designed to:

The NEW Retinol Alternative - Bakuchiol Cream
The NEW Retinol Alternative - Bakuchiol Cream

How to use Bakuchiol cream in your skincare routine

For the first 2 weeks of use, apply on alternate nights. Gradually increase to use every morning and evening.

For best results:

• Apply a small amount of the Katherine Daniels Bakuchiol Cream to clean skin after cleansing.

• It can be used over your preferred concentrate and in your morning routine follow with your Daily DNA Defence SPF30

• A word on exfoliation... It is important to exfoliate regularly (1-2 times a week) Bakuchiol will NOT cause flaky skin. Regular exfoliation will support healthy removal of dead skin cells for smooth skin. The Essential Exfoliating Gel is an incredibly gentle but effective exfoliator.

• Use for a minimum 12 weeks and up to a maximum of 6 months before changing your homecare products. This is because full results will take up to 12 weeks to be seen in the skin.

The Million dollar question: Is Bakuchiol better than Retinol?

Bakuchiol is comparable to the results of Retinol. If you want faster results, Retinol is slightly faster.

If you want results and are prepared to wait for the gentle effects of Bakuchiol, it will respect your skin and give you everything that Retinol does and with no side effects. And if you are intolerant to Vitamin A in skincare, Bakuchiol is a great option for comparable results.

If you’ve been hesitant to try retinol or have struggled with its side effects, Bakuchiol is a fantastic alternative. It delivers many of the same anti-aging and skin-renewing benefits without the irritation, making it a game-changer for those with sensitive or dry skin.

We’re so excited for you to experience the benefits of the new Katherine Daniels Bakuchiol Cream. Feel free to ask us about it next time you visit the salon or book a consultation to see how it can fit into your skincare routine!
